How many lives can a single soul truly live? Is there a limit to human potential? When every life begins with the same fragile breath, why does one ascend to countless triumphs while another lingers in quiet shadows? These gentle yet profound questions arise naturally when one encounters the artworks of Prof. Dr. Sabina Shrestha- an accomplished ophthalmologist and professor whose creative spirit refuses to be confined by a single identity.
What began as a simple, intimate hobby has now blossomed into a lyrical visual language. Her paintings, adorned with poetic titles, invite viewers to drift into their own reflections, to linger within the emotions they quietly evoke. Each canvas feels like a whispered verse, unfolding stories that are as tender as they are powerful.

In 2021, during her first solo exhibition, the halls of the Nepal Art Council bloomed with floral compositions, transforming the gallery into a garden of color and sentiment. Since then, her artistic journey has grown deeper and more resonant, shaped by her graceful balance between a demanding professional life and her devotion to art. Her current exhibition, which began on January 10, continues until January 14, offering audiences a rare glimpse into a life lived in multitudes—where science meets soul, and discipline dances with dreams.
Across her canvases, she gently unravels the many faces of existence-nature in its quiet splendor, the pulse of life, the vastness of the world, and the delicate language of abstraction. Beyond her artistic identity, she is also a distinguished ophthalmologist, a veteran who has devoted years of service to the Nepal Eye Hospital in Tripureshwor, where she also serves as the medical director. This rare harmony between science and art breathes a unique depth into her creations, allowing her to see not only with trained eyes but with a contemplative soul.

Her works echo with impressions of womanhood in its many shades, of nature blossoming in unrestrained beauty, of lovers caught in tender moments, and of moonlight trembling softly upon the surface of a quiet pond. These scenes unfold like half-remembered dreams, suspended between reality and reverie, inviting viewers to pause, feel, and wander.
One of the visitors, Raju Singh, shared his reflections: “I am deeply impressed by the artworks displayed here. Most of the paintings carry me into dreamy landscapes, far beyond the walls of the gallery. Each stroke feels intentional, each form carefully breathed into life. It feels as though every painting, along with its title, is touched by a profound poetic sensibility.”

In a heartfelt conversation with the team of Khojpatra, the artist shared that most of her creations emerge from her own inner reflections. A self-taught painter, she allows intuition to guide her brush, letting emotions rather than rules shape her art. Some of her works tenderly portray the lives of women in rural landscapes, capturing their resilience, quiet strength, and everyday poetry. Others are inspired by the natural sceneries she encountered during her travels—rolling hills, open skies, and fleeting moments that lingered in her memory and later found their way onto her canvas.
Her exhibition is currently on display at the Nepal Art Council, Babermahal, and will remain open until January 14. For art lovers, this is more than just an exhibition-it is an experience, a journey through emotion, reflection, and imagination. Each artwork offers something to see, to feel, and to learn.
Adding to its significance, the artworks are available at affordable prices, and the proceeds from the exhibition will be donated to an NGO named Professional Support Service Nepal, an organization actively working in the field of social service. Through this thoughtful initiative, the artist reminds us that art is not only meant to be admired—it can also be a gentle force for compassion and change.
