Kriti Shah Chand is a prominent figure in the Nepali art scene, carrying forward the rich artistic legacy of her father, the esteemed Shashi Bikram Shah. Growing up surrounded by art, Kriti developed a deep appreciation for creative expression, which eventually led her to formally study art and carve out her own unique identity as an artist.
Following in her father’s footsteps, Kriti continues to explore themes that resonate with Nepal’s cultural heritage while also pushing artistic boundaries with her distinct visual language. Her latest exhibition at the Nepal Art Council, Babermahal, showcases a captivating collection of her works, offering viewers an intimate look into her evolving artistic journey. This is the second-solo exhibition that she is having. The first exhibition was done at the Bikalpa Art Gallery in 2023. The exhibition for the public from March 3rd to March 6th, providing art enthusiasts an opportunity to engage with her thought-provoking creations.
The exhibition is being hosted on the first floor of the gallery hall, where visitors can immerse themselves in Kriti Shah Chand’s artistic evolution. This collection is a compelling blend of her latest creations alongside select pieces from her earlier works, offering a glimpse into her artistic journey and creative growth. Marking her second solo exhibition, this showcase reaffirms her dedication to the craft and her ever-evolving artistic expression.

She compares her abstract works with the musicality and rhythms. “I find my abstract works really peaceful and can delve into it at no time,” shares the artist. This variety highlights Kriti Shah Chand’s versatility and depth as an artist.
The exhibition begins with a still-life painting of a fruit, setting the stage for a series of figurative works that follow. As the journey continues, viewers are introduced to her abstract pieces, which stand out for their rich hues and evocative compositions.
